Mega yachts and luxury living

Luxury yachts in HainanIn April 2011, China’s island in the South China Sea invited the wealthy of the world to its tropical shores to help honour all things luxury. VIP guests sailed yachts or flew private jet planes to Hainan, China’s only tropical island province, for three days of celebrations during the Rendez Vous Festival in April.

The Festival celebrated the beauty of travel and luxury living, with displays that included the world’s biggest mega-yacht, the 65-metre Azimut-Benetti Ambrosia. Guests walked among the world’s elite, honouring luxurious lifestyles while admiring private jets, personal yachts, and million dollar homes on display at the exhibition. From jet planes and helicopters to fashion, the world’s most exclusive designs were on show.

The YPI Group is one of the world’s leading yacht brokerage houses, providing clients with support and advice on all aspects of superyachting.

Increased demand has led YPI to increase its presence in the region, and their attendance in Hainan was part of these plans. ‘Bringing the superyacht Ambrosia to this event shows how serious we are about bringing quality product to clients here,’ Vogele said.

As part of China’s plans to make the island a top international tourist destination by 2020, the island has hosted numerous international festivals from sporting competitions and Miss World Beauty Pageants to international political summits. Along with these, the 2011 Rendez Vous Festival has helped to put the island on the map as a key landmark of the country that is destined to be the world’s largest luxury market by 2014.
