China to host Miss Bikini International World final in May in Sanya
The 35th Miss Bikini International World final will be held in China's southern coastal city of Sanya on May 29, the organizer of the event said Tuesday.
More than 70 contestants from all over the world will join the competition at Sanya, a coastal resort on the island province of Hainan, Li Yulong, executive chairman of Miss Bikini International, told Xinhua.
They will arrive in Sanya mid May and attend fashion shows and cultural activities before the contest begins, Li said.
Only the champion from each country or region during the preliminaries will join the final, based on the beauties' appearance, figure, intelligence and all-round qualities, he said.
It will be the fourth time China hosts the contest. Other Chinese cities like Shanghai and Humen, a city in Guangdong Province, have previously hosted the contest.
According to the website of Miss Bikini International, the competition was first held in 1972 and organized by American Charlie See, who also organized several other beauty contests.
