World`s elite descend upon Hainan for Boao Forum Asia 2009
A record number of more than 600 journalists were in Hainan to cover the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2009 during April.
In its eighth installment, the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2009 hosted 1,700 delegates, one of which was Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao who delivered a keynote speech.
Other attendees included the heads of state from 13 countries including Pakistan, Mongolia, Burma, Vietnam, Finland, Albania, New Zealand, Thailand and Iran, as well as foreign dignitaries including former U.S. President George W. Bush.
The theme of the forum this year was "Asia: Managing Beyond Crisis" which saw delegates dealing with topics on challenges and prospects brought to Asia as a result of the global economic crisis.
The annual Boao Forum for Asia conference has been held in China’s southernmost province since April 2002.
