Learn classic Chinese Tai-Chi from a true Master
“The way of the Tai Chi Quan is at one with the universe, like standing by a stream and watching the forever changing running water” – Master Hu
Mandarin Oriental, Sanya, the group’s first hotel in Mainland China, is expertly designed with the essence of a refined resort life, providing a truly exquisite experience.
With their opening in January 2009, the brand new Mandarin Oriental, Sanya invites you to take a traditional Chinese Tai-Chi class with their very own in-house Shaolin Kung Fu Master, Master Hu, while overlooking the magnificent South China Sea and the natural mountain surroundings.
Originating from a small village surrounding the Shaolin Temple in Henan Province, Master Hu began training as a monk at the age of 7 when his uncle, Grandmaster Shi Di Yu, one of China’s most distinguished authorities in Shaolin and Sanda martial arts, taught him the ways of the ancient arts of Tai-Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu.
With almost 20-years of experience as a student and a teacher of the Shaolin tradition, Master Hu provides guests with an authentic experience in all aspects of Shaolin cultural tradition. Lectures about the power of tea and food on the human body and mind, daily Kung Fu lessons and regular Meditation, Qi Gong and Tai Chi Quan sessions will enhance your spiritual balance.
Master Hu’s past students include Swedish pop group ABBA and the 1967 World Alpine Skiing Champion. In 1999, on his first foreign trip, Master Hu accompanied an official Chinese delegation of Shaolin experts to South Korea followed by numerous visits to Canada (2003 and 2006), Sweden (2004 and 2007) as well as Austria, Germany, Holland and Denmark during which he trained local experts in refining their Shaolin skills.
Master Hu speaks fluent English, Mandarin and his native Henan dialect.
